Dia Membuat Pakaian Cantik dan Menjualnya dengan Merugi
She wakes up at five. Before the children are up. Before the heat comes.
Dia sudah berada di meja. Kain disemat. Mesin berjalan.
She learned to sew from her mother. She is good at it. Better than good.
"Cantik. Berapa harganya?"
And then the negotiation starts. And she gives in. Because she needs the sale.
By the time the dress is finished, packed, and sent — she has earned less than the cost of the fabric.
She does not know this. She priced by feeling. What seems fair. What the customer will accept.
This is not a story about a woman who cannot sew. She can sew. That is not the problem.
The problem
Dia membeli fabrik seorang diri — satu panjang pada satu masa, pada harga runcit.
Dia mencari pelanggan satu persatu — melalui halaman peribadinya.
She competes with women on the next street doing exactly the same thing. She sells to neighbours who have no money.
Dia keseorangan.
Apa yang berubah apabila sepuluh wanita bertemu antara satu sama lain?
They buy fabric together — wholesale price. The cost drops before a single stitch is made.
One coordinator finds the orders none of them could find alone. School uniforms. Corporate orders. A stall where customers have money.
The price is no longer set by feeling. It is set by arithmetic.
Below that number, she is not selling. She is donating her labour.
Above the floor — she competes on what she is actually good at. Design. Fit. Finishing. The things her customers were already telling her were beautiful.
The Facebook page becomes the shop front. The cooperative is the factory behind it.
Adakah setiap ahli memperoleh pendapatan lebih setiap keping berbanding pendapatannya dengan menjual seorang diri?
If yes — keep going. If no — find out why before the orders stop.
MetriqOne menjejakinya. Kertas dan pen. Internet tidak diperlukan.
Adakah ia penting? — Ukurlah.
