Elle confectionne de beaux vêtements et les vend à perte.
She wakes up at five. Before the children are up. Before the heat comes.
Elle est déjà à table. Le tissu est épinglé. La machine est en marche.
She learned to sew from her mother. She is good at it. Better than good.
«Magnifique. Combien ça coûte ?»
And then the negotiation starts. And she gives in. Because she needs the sale.
By the time the dress is finished, packed, and sent — she has earned less than the cost of the fabric.
She does not know this. She priced by feeling. What seems fair. What the customer will accept.
This is not a story about a woman who cannot sew. She can sew. That is not the problem.
The problem
Elle achète le tissu seul, une longueur à la fois, au prix de détail.
Elle trouve ses clients un par un, grâce à sa page personnelle.
She competes with women on the next street doing exactly the same thing. She sells to neighbours who have no money.
Elle est seule.
Que se passe-t-il lorsque dix femmes se rencontrent ?
They buy fabric together — wholesale price. The cost drops before a single stitch is made.
One coordinator finds the orders none of them could find alone. School uniforms. Corporate orders. A stall where customers have money.
The price is no longer set by feeling. It is set by arithmetic.
Below that number, she is not selling. She is donating her labour.
Above the floor — she competes on what she is actually good at. Design. Fit. Finishing. The things her customers were already telling her were beautiful.
The Facebook page becomes the shop front. The cooperative is the factory behind it.
Chaque membre gagne-t-il plus par pièce qu'elle ne le faisait en vendant seule ?
If yes — keep going. If no — find out why before the orders stop.
